Yamada Shigetsugu (山田重継)

Shigetsugu YAMADA (the date of birth unknown - July 6, 1221) was a samurai during the beginning of the Kamakura period. He was the first son of Shigetada YAMADA. Kanetsugu YAMADA, Shigechika YAMADA and Rennin were his sons. The kana, or his common name was Magojiro.
He was Izu-no-kuni-no-kami (the governor of Izu Province)

As an heir of Shigetada, he built Minami-yamashiro-jo Castle in Yamada County, Owari Province (present day around Kakeshita Town, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture) and lived there until his death in Jokyu War in 1221, the war he fought hard for the retired Emperor with his father and his eldest son, Kanetsugu.
